.### Cleared for Sourcing: Aviate Talent Acquisition & Pilot Recruiter (Remote)

  • The Aviate Program: Aviate is United Airlines' pilot career development program. It provides a "secure path" from flight schools to a United Airlines flight deck. The recruiter's job is to build a talent pipeline of aspiring and established pilots for this program.

  • Recruiter's Responsibilities: The job involves more than just a typical recruiter role. The responsibilities include:

    • Sourcing: Proactively identifying and attracting candidates through various platforms like social media, databases, job fairs, and conferences.

    • Screening: Reviewing applications, resumes, and conducting interviews.

    • Relationship Management: Acting as a point of contact, building influential relationships with candidates throughout the selection process, and maintaining relationships with flight schools and universities.

    • Strategy: Developing strategies to build diverse pipelines and marketing the program.

    • Administrative: Managing data, monitoring expenses, and coordinating travel for candidates and the recruiting team.

  • Required Skills and Qualifications: The job requires a blend of recruiting and aviation-specific knowledge. Key skills include:

    • Experience: 1-3 years of recruiting experience in a high-volume environment is a minimum.

    • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills are essential for building relationships.

    • Technical: Proficiency with Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) like Taleo and knowledge of social media for sourcing.

    • Soft Skills: Strong organizational skills, time management, attention to detail, and a self-starter attitude are all mentioned as critical.

    • Aviation Knowledge: A basic understanding of aviation regulations and pilot credentialing requirements is important. Some sources even mention a degree in aviation, business, or HR as a plus.

  • Remote Work Nuances: While one search result mentions a pilot recruiter role that requires up to 75% travel, the user's request specifies "remote." I will craft the description to be a remote-first position, but I will include a note that some travel for events like job fairs may be required, which is a realistic expectation for this type of role.
